Book AppointmentOur Mission and Care Philosophy
Our mission is to improve quality of life via the power of sight.
Our team collaborates to perform thorough eye care assessments. With the direction and expertise of Dr. Williams, we strive to provide comprehensive, personalized care for each of our patients.
While our practice offers full-scope optometry, we remain well-connected to other healthcare professionals in the region. Whether you need a referral to an ophthalmologist for a procedure or Dr. Williams catches signs of a systemic health issue, such as diabetes, during your eye exam, we’re committed to making sure you receive the care you need.
Our Eye Care Technology
At VEA, we use diagnostic eye care technology to get a clear picture of your eye health. You may see some of these tests during your eye exam. If you have any questions, feel free to ask your technician or Dr. Williams. We’re happy to share what each device does during your appointment.
We use optical coherence tomography (OCT) scans and fundus photography to clearly check the health of your eye. OCT scans use light waves to map the layers of your retina, so we can evaluate the health of your eye and its internal structures. Fundus photography captures an image of the inside of your eye, showing the retina, blood vessels, and optic nerve.
We may use other tests during your exam as well to check your eye pressure, visual field (peripheral vision), and topography to map the surface of your eye. These tests help us monitor for common eye diseases and assess or measure your eyes for contact lenses.
Meet Dr. Andrew Williams, Optometrist and Owner
Andrew Williams is a proud graduate of both Xavier University of Louisiana and the Pennsylvania College of Optometry at Salus University. As a Xaverite, he studied Biology and minored in Chemistry and Spanish. It was during his tenure at Xavier that he found a passion for optometry while conducting student research at the Center for Adaptive Optics at the University of California, Santa Cruz.
Graduating from the Pennsylvania College of Optometry, he became well educated on how the eyes utilize light and the intricacies of the eyes and their relation to one’s overall health. To further hone his clinical knowledge, Dr. Williams conducted a post-doctoral residency abroad in Puerto Rico with primary foci in both pediatrics, rigid gas permeable and scleral lenses.
These skills, along with his genuine will to help others, are what Dr. Williams uses to help propel him and his staff to remain informed about recent ocular technology and medical practices of care, as well as ensuring that those of the Atlanta community are well informed about the importance of ocular health.
Dr. Williams and his wife, Porscha, spend much of their time with their young children, Blair and Roman, and active puppy, Calma, enjoying many of the parks and events that Atlanta has to offer. As migrants to Atlanta by way of Washington D.C, they are very excited to implement southern hospitality in every aspect of VEA Eye Health Professionals.
